Judee Sill - Judee Sill (LP)

[a=Judee Sill]'s eponymous debut was (together with albums by [a=Jackson Browne], [a=Jo Jo Gunne] and [a=David Blue]) the first album release of [a=David Geffen]'s [l=Asylum Records] on September 15, 1971. International rollout followed in 1972 through local subsidiaries of [l=The Gramophone Co. Ltd.] ([l=EMI]). The songs on the album were composed between 1969, when Sill was hired by [a=The Turtles] as a songwriter for their publishing company [l=Blimp Music], and 1971. "Lady-O" was first released by the band. The album was originally intended to also contain "The Pearl" and "The Phoenix" but these songs were dropped in favour of "Jesus Was A Cross Maker". They were re-recorded and appeared on Sill's second album [m=142784] in 1973. However, the original recordings were included on a test pressing and subsequently added on CD reissues.
