
Ziggy Stardust - The Motion Picture
The Story
Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (sometimes called Bowie 1973) is a 1979 documentary and concert film by [a683441]. It features British musician [a10263] and his backing group [a607528] performing at the [l264367] on 3 July 1973. At this show, Bowie made the sudden surprise announcement that the show would be "the last show that we'll ever do", later understood to mean that he was retiring his Ziggy Stardust persona.

As of 2023, there are three officially released versions (1983, 2003, 2023) - each of them differing in content and mix from each other, all containing overdubs recorded some years after the concert.
The earliest release (1983) has one track substantially truncated (The Width of a Circle), the 30th anniversary (2003) includes the track in full; the fiftieth includes two tracks with guitarist Jeff Beck for the first time.
Included dialogue between tracks, intro and outro music heard at the concert also differs between releases.
