"HIStory - Past, Present And Future - Book I" was Michael Jackson's 9th studio album and first published in June 1995. It also included the first officially-called greatest hits compilation on Epic Records. It sold over 40 million copies worldwide and was therefore commercially less successful than his predecessor "Dangerous".

Reissues of HIStory feature a number of changes when compared to the original 1995 release:
⇒ "They Don't Care About Us" – As this song became controversial for its lyrics containing slurs for Jewish people, those parts were censored with loud electric noises.
⇒ "HIStory" omits its original intro and was replaced with a new intro similar to the original.
