Floodland
The second Sisters of Mercy album, released November 1987. It reached #7 on the UK album charts, and three hit singles were released from it: [m=2871] (September 1987, #7 on UK chart); [m=2924] (February 1988, #13); and [m=2848] (June 1988, #20). The band lineup on 'Floodland' was nominally Andrew Eldritch and Patricia Morrison. The songs were written by Eldritch alone, and Morrison is not credited on the sleeve artwork, except in the 'thank you' list (under her real name, [Patricia] Anne Rainone). Morrison's musical contribution has been disputed, but she was vital to the band's image during this period. The album differs in its vinyl and CD versions. The CD features the full-length mixes of 'This Corrosion' (10:55) and 'Driven Like The Snow' (6:27). On the vinyl version, 'This Corrosion' fades out at 9:16, and 'Driven Like The Snow' is a different mix, lasting 4:39. Many CD versions add 'Torch' and 'Colours' (B-sides from the 'This Corrosion' single) as bonus tracks. (On cassette, 'Torch' alone is added, at the end of side one.) According to Eldritch, these were 'supposed to be removed after the first pressing', and 'don't belong to the album'.
