Official Release

Peace

There are two distinct versions of the album: the 1999 original and the 2005 remaster. Differences have been observed on almost all tracks on the 2005 remaster: – On "17 Again", at the breakdown around 2:37, the "hey hey" vocals are flanged, the following pause is longer and has no bell sound. – "I Saved The World Today" has less prominent strings at 1:48, and features no backing vocal / counter melody line at 3:36. – "Power To The Meek" has significant differences. From 1:11 to 1:30 the latter part of the 2nd verse is replaced with a repeat of the 1st verse. In the breakdown at 1:52 there is no cowbell. The guitar solo at 2:08 is longer (1999 version omits the first half). The end choruses repeat "I'm alive, yeah, it's alright", whereas the 1999 version adds on top the above combined 2nd/1st verse verse vocals. – "Beautiful Child" has percussion in stereo from 0:30 (1999 is centered) and hi-hat is more prominent. – On "Anything But Strong", the ascending synth lines starting at 0:21 are much more pronounced. On the outro, synth lines are centered and the constant synth note that's in 1999 is almost inaudible. – On "Peace is Just a Word", drums starting at 1:28 are brighter. At 4:45 there are "do do do" ad-libs that are absent from 1999 version, which instead has prominent guitars. 1999 version continues with the guitar outro and full beat to fade, but on the 2005 version drums are faded out at 5:20, after which the song continues to end fade with only vocals, strings, brass and very basic percussion. – "I've Tried Everything" is markedly different. While both versions have the same vocals and guitars, synths dominate the 1999 version and the back-beat percussion appears to be all programmed, with no drums. The 2005 version has full band backing throughout. – "I Want It All" has a very brief breakdown at 1:39 that is not on the 1999 version. – "My True Love" has more of the ominous sounding synth sounds throughout. During the break part at 3:21 to 3:38, the synths are 'reversed'. 2005 version has less synths, but on the 1999 version the ominous synths can actually be heard. 2005 version also has added strings during the break. – "Forever" has added horns on the intro.
